CALL FOR STUDENT EXHIBIT SUBMISSIONS

Do you have a design project you would like to show off and share with leaders in the circuits and systems field? The Student-Industry Forum could be a great step in your career development! Accepted applicants will present either a poster or live demonstration during the ~2hr Student Project Exhibition portion of this event, which will be attended by industry representatives and regular conference attendees.

The top reasons to apply for and attend the Student-Industry Forum are:

  1. show off your engineering design skills,

  2. meet and interact with leaders in industry and academia,

  3. get career advice from industry representatives,

  4. compete to win one of several student performance awards,

  5. receive FREE admission to MWSCAS Tutorial day, Sunday Aug 10, and

  6. be eligible to register for the full 4-day MWSCAS conference and apply for a student participation travel grant.

Eligibility: Student exhibit presenters must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program and have a design project they personally worked on in a class, in a research lab (with supervisor approval), or on their own. Suitable projects should be within one of the MWSCAS Technical Tracks //link to track list// and involve the design of a circuit or hardware/software integrated system -sensors, robotics, wearables, edge AI, etc. are all suitable for this event. Submitted projects will be evaluated by a panel of experts, and only accepted exhibits will be presented. Students must attend the event and present their work in person.

Submission Deadline: June 2, 2025

Exhibit Format: Student exhibits can be either in the form of a poster or a live demonstration. Poster presentations will be traditional ~3’x4’ posters on a wall or easel that students can stand in front of and describe their design projects to attendees. Demonstration presentations will include a poster, but they will also have an exhibit table to display physical objects with which participants can interact. Demo objects could be in the form of a functional electronic or robotic system, a laptop displaying live data collection, or any other physical demonstration of the student design project. The conference will provide a table and a power cord for each demonstration, but all other materials and equipment for the demo must be brought by the presenter.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the MWSCAS’25 Student-Industry Forum, visit the submission site//link same as submission link// and select Student Exhibit. To complete this submission, you will need your university email (as proof of current enrollment), a project title (~10-20 words) and an abstract (250 to 500 words) summarizing your exhibit project. You will also need to choose your preferred presentation format, poster or live demonstration (see below). All student exhibit applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts who will make acceptance/rejection decisions. Notification of acceptances will occur about one week after the submission deadline.

STUDENT EXHIBIT INSTRUCTIONS

Student presenters are encouraged to dress professionally and bring their resume for feedback from industry representatives. Detailed guidelines for posters and demonstrations will be posted here later. Each exhibit will also need a single slide for the Lightning Round presentations, for which guidelines will be posted here later.

STUDENT PERFORMANCE AWARDS

All students who have an accepted exhibit and attend the event to present their work will receive a certificate of participation. Additionally, during the live event, a panel of judges will review exhibits based on 1) the technical quality of the work and 2) the quality of the student’s presentation and audience interaction. Based on judge ratings, performance awards will be given for the best poster and for the best demonstration. Separate awards will be given for undergraduate and graduate exhibits (based on the lead author defined at the time of submission). Both runner up and first prizes will be awarded, for a total of either (8) student exhibit awards, to be handed out during the conference award ceremony.

STUDENT PARTICIPATION TRAVEL AWARDS

MWSCAS will offer student authors of regular papers who attend and participate in the conference events an opportunity to apply for travel grants. Pending availability for travel award funds, students with accepted Student-Industry Forum exhibits may have the opportunity to register for and attend the full conference and apply for a student travel grant. Updates on availability of travel funds will be emailed to all students with accepted exhibit presentations. It is anticipated that each exhibit submission could apply for a maximum of one student travel grant.
